The Monterey County Branch NAACP 1049 invites the community to participate in our Second Education Forum on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Oldemeyer Center in Seaside, California.
Building upon the meaningful discussions from our first forum, we will continue identifying practical and sustainable solutions to improve the delivery of educational programs, services, and resources to students throughout Monterey County, particularly Black and Brown students who continue to face educational disparities.
Our discussion will focus on academic achievement, student engagement, parental involvement, mentorship, access to educational resources, and strengthening partnerships between school districts and community organizations. Special emphasis will be placed on identifying barriers to student success and developing actionable recommendations that support students throughout their educational journey.
Community participation is essential. We strongly encourage students, parents, teachers, school district leadership, educational professionals, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and concerned residents to attend. We especially welcome student and parent perspectives to ensure that our recommendations reflect the experiences and needs of those directly affected by educational policies and practices.
The ultimate objective of these forums is to move beyond discussion toward measurable solutions, greater accountability, and stronger collaboration among educational institutions and community stakeholders. We must ensure that students are provided the academic preparation, resources, and support necessary to earn a high school diploma and pursue higher education, career training, or meaningful employment.
We encourage everyone to attend, participate, and help shape the future of education in Monterey County.
Our commitment remains unwavering: Closing the achievement gap, expanding educational opportunities, and ensuring every student has a pathway to success.
