Covered California – Health Care Updates

Covered California extends enrollment deadline to Dec. 20 for health coverage starting Jan. 1

Due to high call volume and enrollment demand, Covered California has extended the deadline for Jan. 1 health coverage through midnight this Friday, Dec. 20. That means consumers have more time to sign up for health coverage for all of 2020.

Although Covered California’s open-enrollment period officially ends on Jan. 31, 2020, consumers now have until Dec. 20 to enroll in new health plans or renew/change existing plans to have health coverage beginning Jan. 1. And remember that a new state subsidy program offers consumers more financial help than ever before to help lower monthly health care costs, including middle-income Californians.

Consumers can easily find out if they are eligible for financial help and see which plans are available in their area by entering their ZIP code, household income and the ages of those who need coverage into Covered California’s Shop and Compare Tool. Those interested in learning more about their coverage options can:

At Covered California we believe everyone should have health coverage, and starting in 2020, it’s the law in California. If you don’t have health coverage, you could face a costly penalty at tax time — so don’t delay and make sure to get enrolled.
