NAACP Scholarship Application Process Open

Monterey County Branch NAACP is offering scholarship opportunities  for both graduating high school seniors and college applicants who reside in Monterey County.  Applicants must be a high school graduate going to a two-year or four-year accredited college/university OR  a student transferring from a junior college to a four-year accredited college/university.  All applicants MUST:                        

  • Have a grade point average of 2.5 and above.
  • Enroll full-time and maintain 12 units or more, in the fall session in which the scholarship is awarded.
  • Be involved in community activities.
  • Have a financial need.

NAACP in African American History

Thu, February 23 2012 – 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Location: CSUMB Music Hall

In honor of Black History Month, Black Students United, Student Activities and Leadership Development and the Service Learning Institute in association with the AmeriCorps VIP program will host the NAACP February General Meeting.

The program will consist of 1) a presentation on the history of the NAACP in the African American community both nationally and locally, 2) a presentation on the work of local NAACP leaders, 3) a membership drive to encourage CSUMB faculty and staff to become more involved in the Association and 4) a student recruitment drive to establish a college chapter of the NAACP at CSUMB.
